Today’s 3D flower nail art is inspired by Mint floral print saree from Designer Sabyasachi Mukharjee’s Summer resort 2015 collection. I have started a Fashion Inspired nails series where I will share my interpretation of latest fashion trends converted into nail art.
Recently 2 of Bollywood actress were seen flaunting these beautiful Mint green floral print Sabyasachi saree at different events. Deepika Padukone was seen wearing this beautiful mint floral print Sabyasachi saree at promotional event for her movie Piku. While actress Richa Chaddha carried the Mint floral print Sabyasachi saree very gracefully at Cannes 2015.
The beautiful floral print and mint color inspired me to work on new 3D flower nail art.
For my 3D flower nail art, I started with Super chic Lacquer Dumb luck as my base. Dumb Luck is pastel mint green nail colors from their Serendipity collection.
This polish gets opaque with 2 coats, its super quick dry. It dries to matte finish with little shimmer/shine. I have applied here 2 coats, without any top coat. While working on nail art, it dried very fast even with 3rd coat. I was very much impressed with its smooth and quick dry formula. I will do stamping test in coming days, I am sure it must stamp good as well.
I had recieved real dry flowers from Born pretty Store. They were perfect for my concept of 3D flower nail art to match with the floral print on saree.
These real dry flowers come as circular pieces in 12 different colors. They are tiny and very delicate so its difficult to work with them. It takes 2-3 experiments to get the trick to use them effectively. Sharing here my hits and misses with tips on how I placed them for best of its use.
I wanted to use part of flowers like in half circle. When I first cut them in half, they broke into pieces. So I assembled different flower pieces and placed them as seen here on the middle finger. Then after 1-2 attempts I learnt the trick to handle dry flowers better.
On ring finger, I first applied coat of Dumb luck. This polish dries very fast. So when it was wet, I immediately attached the full circular piece of coral dry flower on nails in a way that it covers nail in half circle. Once it was fixed on nails, I cut the access piece. This was very helpful to avoid breakage.
One might wonder what to do with loose broken pieces? Will it all go waste?! Nope, I made best use of them as well. By placing them at random on first and last fingers 😉
I hope these tips will be useful when you want to use BPS real dry flower as well. These flowers may look raw in pictures here but they look absolutely beautiful in person. Even as I am sitting here and typing I can’t stop looking at my 3D flower nail art. They look like miniature bunch of flower bouquet on nails.
Overall i am happy with how this 3D flower nail art turned out to match with my inspiration. Let me know your feedback in comments below.
