Any Minions fan here? Today’s post is for you, because it features Adorable 3D Minion nails along with minions nail art tutorial.
Universal picture’s 3D animation movie Minions 2015 released this week. All my social media feeds were full of Minion related posts. I could see Minion fever everywhere. Finally i too joined in Minions Fever with my 3D minion nails today.
Besides Minions movie, my 3D minion nails is also inspired by @Narmai of Piggieluv.com. She shared this genius 3D jeans nail art recently. I thought this idea could go perfect for my 3D minion nail art design, so i had to include it.
Minions nail art is very easy to create. There is no right or wrong Minion nails design. Thats why you can create minion nail art design in mi(ll)nions of ways. Following is step by step for my version of Minion Nail art tutorial:
Yellow: Eliana’s Collection ‘Yellow 2lips’
Blue: Elaina’s Collection ‘ Perfect storm‘
Black and White : Dance Legend 315 and 323 Resp.
Dance Legend Satin Matte Top Coat
Step by step tutorial for Minions Nail art:
Step 1: Apply Yellow Nail Polish as base. Once its dry, Add matte top coat.
Step 2 : Stick 2 horizontal straight Vinyls or striping tapes. Fill in black nail polish with help of nail art brush.
Step 3: Remove vinyls immediately when its wet. This gives sharp and accurate straight line.
Step 4: Add 2 black nail polish using largest dotting tool head. Make sure dots are adjacent to each other. This is important part of Minion nails design.
Step 5 : Once black dots are semi dry, add 2 white nail polish dots using smaller dotting tool head. These white dots should make black dots look like spectacles frames.
Step 6: When white dots are semi wet add Mustard seeds or brown caviar beads for eye balls. Draw different facial expressions using nail art brush. This minor detailing actually controls the entire nail design look. Depending upon what expression we draw the Minions will look either funny or cute. I had difficult time getting desired expression in one go. So i have cut some part of smiley stickers and used it here 😉
Step 7: Stick a french tip guide covering half on nail. Apply Blue nail polish. Remove the vinyls immediately.
Step 8: Cut small strands of black thread. Dip it in clear polish. Attach on cuticle side randomly.
If you like to wear 2D Minion nails, you may stop after this step. But if you wish to add little fun 3D element then follow next step.
Step 9: Cut out Small piece from old denim fabric. Draw curve line at the back side of the fabric piece. You may use french tip guide to get same shape as above step. Cut the fabric in curve shape at top, and rest in nail shape leaving some extra pieces on sides.
When the blue polish is semi wet, attach denim piece onto nails matching curved shape of blue polish (as shown in previous step). Press from all sides to make sure it is well attached. Using a cuticle scissor trim off excess denim piece forming shape of nail.
I loved how adorable the 3D minion nails turned out. Did you like this fun Minion nail art? Let me know in comments below.
