I wanted to try Real dry flower nail art since sometime now. I am yet to receive the Real Dry flowers I ordered from Born Pretty Store (From Here). So in the meantime I tried to make my own real dry flowers and try flower nail art with it 😉
I remember in school days, we were very fond of preserving Roses in side the books. After few days, open it to see it dry and yet not loosing its beauty. I don’t know how these tiny real dry flowers available at BPS are made. But i wondered if that technique would work for this purpose too? Its difficult to find tiny flowers around my vicinity, so i could never really try this idea. Few days back i came across these tiny and beautiful flowers during my Holidays to Himachal Pradesh (India). (My holiday nail art post).
So i plucked a few and tried my idea with them. Did I get the desired result? I guess more or less, yes!! That idea works!! How did i do it? Read further to find out 😉
Drying the flowers:
I cut the flowers petals very close to its stems. Being careful, not to damage the petals shape. Laid them flat on a tissue paper. Left them inside a book overnight. Next day they were dried and looked like above image.
Applying dry flowers on nails:
Paint the base nail polish. Once its semi dry, start placing dried real leaves and flowers. Add the dot in the center using a dotting tool. Seal the flower nail art design with a Top Coat.
Since it was my first time trying this technique, there are few tips from lessons I learnt:
1. Try drying the flowers as soon as it is plucked: I was traveling, so i got a chance to dry them after few hours of plucked. It starts changing its color by then, If processed sooner, we can preserve its real color better.
2. Not to over dry the flowers : These flowers are tiny and does not require more than 6-7 hours dry time. Leaving them overnight works best.
3. Not to put them under too much heavy weight to dry: These are very delicate flowers. Normal 1kg book is good enough. Too much weight damages the petals.
4. The dried flowers can be preserved for few days : Leaving them in book for later use will over dry them. Take them out of the book and preserve in small containers.
I wish I can make another visit soon so that i can try creating these Real dry flower nail art once again.
