Can’t realize how fast days pass. The Summer is almost getting over and new season is about to arrive. I love summers more than winters because I feel refreshed and full of energy with bright colors around me.
This Summer we witnessed so many new fun and cheerful nail polish collection launches like China Glaze Electric Nights, OPI Color Paints, Super Chic Lacquer’s High Voltage crazy holographic polishes and many more. While Neon nail polish dominated the Summer season nail trend, we can not ignore the Holographic nail polish craze too.
I got opportunity to work with some of fun summer nail polish collections too. I started working on many nail art ideas with lot of excitement but suddenly things changed at my place and it shuffled my priorities. Due to which I had to hold back blogging and nail art activities, so they never made it to blog 🙁 My sincere apologies to the makers for the delay. I really worked very hard with them but could not share as planned.
But before I call it wrap up for the Summer season, I though I should still share them. Because they all are so special in their own ways, I can not keep them with me without sharing it here on my blog with you all.
I am starting a Series “Goodbye Summer – Wrap Up on Summer Nail trends” where I will share some of popular nail trends we witnessed in Summer 2015. I will also share review and nail art with some of the summer collections that I got opportunity to work with but they never made it to my blog.
Goodbye Summer – Wrap Up on Summer Nail trends Series: Trend No. 1- ‘Neon Jelly nail polish’.
Neon Jelly nail polish are ones which are sheer in one coat but still looks bright as neon colors. Jelly polishes are usually mix between sheer polishes and cremes. They are different from sheer/tint polishes because the pigments in Jelly polish are more brighter than sheer polish. The base liquid of jelly polish is more like that of creme polish where as sheer polish has more of clear polish liquid base.
China Glaze Sunsational, Color Club Poptastic neons, Essie Neons, SinfulColors Neon 2015 are few popular examples of Neon Jelly collections. This year we saw many Indie polish makers with Neon Jelly nail polish collections too.
In today’s post, I am featuring Neon jelly polishes from Doctor lacquer’s Kaleidoscope collection.
Doctor lacquer Kaleidoscope collection is set of 10 Neon jelly polishes. This collection was launched last year, it was still one of their most selling line in summer 2015 too. Because these jelly polishes are brilliant for water marble. Not only they water marble great but also great to do many other nail art styles like jelly sandwich, syrup gradient, lead light technique etc. Sharing some of examples here below:
All polishes in Doctor lacquer jelly collections like Kaleidoscope and Scubaloha water marble flawless. If some one is new to water marble and struggles to create water marble design, they should definitely check out Doctor lacquer polishes. Following is example of water marble with Kaleidoscope Holo polishes “Phycocyanin” and “Carotene“.
You can see how many circles are there in the bulls eye. And best part, even after so many layers, the outer most layers did not dry quickly and I could create designs even at the outer most layers. (By the way these are quick dry polishes when applied on nails but still they worked great in water.)
Keeping its USP – water marble in mind, I was trying to create a creative 3D Peacock feather nail art with water marble decal. Here is one shot from my trials. I did not prepare a complete nail art as I needed to improvise this design to make it more wearable on nails.
In today’s post I am sharing water marble nail art with 2 Doctor Lacquer nail jelly polishes from Kaleidoscope collection –
‘Phycocyanin‘ – neon blue jelly polish and
‘Carotene‘ – neon yellow jelly polish.
I have done syrup gradient on the first and last finger with “Phycocyanin”. The effect may not be clearly visible here because I used same color. These polishes are jelly polishes which look little sheer with one coat. What makes Doctor Lacquer jelly polishes different from others is that it gets opaque with 2-3 coats. Even with 2-3 coats application, the polish looks thin layered on nails and light weight too. These are quick dry polishes which dries to matte finish.
The water marble on middle and ring finger was done using my Water marble decal method. You can find its tutorial here.
Then I added Dance legend Rio Top coat to make it more cheerful.
