This Month’s HPB group monthly challenge theme is St. Patrick’s day nails. I recently received this gorgeous green jelly holo polish from El Corazon nail polish – Active bio gel large hologram collection. Since this is jelly polish, I was gonna do 2-3 coats for the swatch. One of the #Nailthattechnique upcoming theme is Pond Mani. So I took this opportunity and combined El Corazon Nail polish – Green Large Hologram polish swatch with Pond manicure for St. Patrick’s day nails theme.
For this St. Patrick’s day nails – Pond mani, I used following products:
El Corazon – Active Bio-gel nail polish – Large Hologram – 423/507 (Green)
Maybelline Color Show Bold gold for dots
Born Pretty Store 3D swan Charm (From Here)
El Corazon – Active Bio-gel nail polish – Large Hologram 423/507 is green jelly holo polish with lots of green and prism holo glitters. Formula is not too runny and not too crème. Application is smooth and non streaky. It dries pretty quick with even with 3 coats.
Since this is jelly base polish, it looks little sheer with one coat. Following is swatch with one coat of El Corazon Nail Polish – Large Hologram – 423/507
Pond mani is layers of nail designs trapped between 2 to 3 layers of jelly polish. Pond mani is similar to jelly sandwich nail technique where we place nail design in between 2 coats of jelly nail polish. But in pond mani, we do additional layer to jelly sandwich nails. The effect of pond mani looks like see through pebbles in water/ pond. The deeper pebbles, it looks lighter from surface. Similarly, the first layer nail design of Pond mani is see through from top layer but in lighter color giving effect of pebbles/ stone in water. So it is called Pond Mani. For better explanation and tutorial you may refer Chalkboard Nails or Olive View Fashion.
I wanted to do pond mani with this El corazon green jelly holo polish for St. Patrick’s day nails theme. So I added random golden dots using Maybelline Color show bold gold with dotting tool. Then added second coat of El Corazon green jelly holo nail polish. Following image shows 2 coats swatch of El Corazon – Active Bio-gel nail polish – Large Hologram – 423/507.
Continuing with my Pond Mani, I added few more random dots of Maybelline Color Show Bold gold with dotting tool.
The Pond mani/ jelly sandwich nail design at this point looks cool in itself. But I added 3rd coat of El Corazon – Active Bio-gel nail polish – Large Hologram 423/507 for the following swatch.
To complete the St. Patrick’s day nails – Pond mani look, I added 3D swan charm from Born pretty Store.
El Corazon – Active Bio-gel nail polish – Large Hologram 423/507 green jelly holo polish looks pretty in every coat. You may use it with just single coat or multiple coats like Syrup gradient. It looks very pretty on its own too. The holo glitters are very effective. Since the above swatch shots were in natural day light, the holo glitter was not much visible in pictures. So I clicked one more shot indoor in artificial light.
Pond mani looks better with sheer polishes. Since i used holo jelly polish, the Pond mani concept is not very effectively visible in final mani pic. But the holo glitter effect in El Corazon – Active Bio-gel nail polish – Large Hologram 423/507 looks gorgeous here.
