This week’s Nail that Technique challenge theme is Syrup Gradient Nails. So today I am sharing my 3D valentines day nail art using Syrup gradient nails technique.
I am doing syrup gradient nails for first time. So thought of making notes of this technique for reference.
What is Syrup Gradient nail art technique?
Syrup Gradient Nail art is form of gradient on nails without using sponge but using only jelly / sheer nail polishes. It can be done using single color of jelly polishes or different shades of nail colors for gradient.
How to do Syrup Gradient Nails?
Start with base coat. Then apply first coat of jelly polish directly with polish bottle brush. Once its semi dry, add second coat of nail polish starting from middle. Once it is dry add third coat in 1/4 of nails towards tip. This should make it look like lighter shade on cuticle side to darker shade on tips.

What products are required to do Syrup Gradient nail art?
Only Nail polishes and quick dry top Coat. (Jelly / Sheer polishes work best)
How much time required to do Syrup Gradient nails?
Since we need to apply several layers of nail polish, it may take 15 to 20 minutes to complete the manicure.
Pros and Cons of Syrup gradient nail art technique?
Pros: Its easy to do, less messy than gradient using sponge, less waste of polish, no special tools required, can be used for quick manicure idea.
Cons: – Works best with Sheer / Jelly polishes. – Brush strokes are lightly visible at times.
Tips and Tricks for Syrup Gradient nails?
– Don’t wait for first layer to complete dry for next application. When we apply second coat on semi wet base, it merges with first layer better.
– Adding glitter topper not only enhances the look but also reduces the different layer brush strokes visibility.

Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz often used in jewelry.
Taking inspiration that necklace, I designed a 3D Valentines day nails on purple base using a new technique – syrup gradient. I Added 3D bling in heart shape Amethyst. I guess this should take care of all the above themes ..lol 😉 Please do check attached links to see other nail artist’s great work.

First and last Finger: I did syrup gradient base using Lacquer lust Simply Royal. This is purple polish is jelly polish with purple holo glitter particles. The base looks very pretty. I forgot to click an individual pic of base. I shall create this base again and update the post later with syrup gradient base pic. After applying top coat i added floral 3D nail art stickers.
Middle and Ring finger: Applied light purple nail polish as base. Added silver glitter topper. When top coat was wet, added 3d heart stone and caviar beads to create Necklace and ring design.
I never used to get my gradient right with sponge. After trying this technique and seeing some beautiful results, syrup gradient nails has become one of my favorite technique now.
