I recently got hands on Zoya Matte Velvet collection in a polish swap with my Best friend Uma of Uma’s Nail art blog. I was waiting to try them since long time. So when got chance, I thought of sharing my Zoya Matte Velvet collection swatches and review.
Zoya Matte Velvet collection is set of 6 shades. All the shades are unique with rich velvet texture and finish. What sets these matte polishes apart are its unusual to find subtle shimmer touch in velvet matte finish. I love every nail color in this Zoya matte Velvet collection. They look glamorous and designer’s piece. Perfect to go with evening wear.
All polishes are super quick dry. We need to be careful to get streak free application. If we do repeated brush strokes it will show up the streaks after drying. Because they dry super quick and we are not applying any top coat over this. This was my first time trying such quick dry matte nail colors so it took me 2-3 manicures to understand streak free application trick. They are well pigmented and get opaque in first coat itself. I have applied 2 coats in all swatches, without using base or top coat. I have used nail vinyls from Snail vinyls and El Corazon Holo Spark top coat 421/24 on accent nails.
All swatch pics are taken in natural day light. (Click on images for larger view)
Zoya Matte Velvet collection – Dovima
Dovima is a smoky charcoal-black with strong silver shimmer. I have used Zebra Snail Vinyls on the accent along with El Corazon holo spark top coat.
Zoya Matte Velvet collection – Harlow
Zoya Matte Velvet collection – Veruschka
Veruschka is a deep green with silver shimmer. Used here is Square swirl stencil from Snail Vinyls.
Zoya Matte Velvet collection – Posh
Posh is Red with shimmer. To go by its name, this one actually looks posh and rich. On accent here is moroccan stencil from Snail Vinyls.
Zoya Matte Velvet collection – Savita
Savita is a bold and vibrant medium purple. Looks gorgeous even with top coat. On accent nail i have used Staggered Chevron nail steencils from Snail vinyls.
Zoya Matte Velvet collection – Loredana
Loredana is a metallic gunmetal grey in matte finish, packed silvery shimmer. The chevron nail vinyl design on accent nail not clear in this image but looks pretty in person.
Since all the polishes in Zoya Matte Velvet collection are opaque and quick dry, I had to try and test if they stamp too. And yes, they perform best at stamping. In following images I have stamped with Posh and Veruschka over silver and golden base color. And it stands out on both base colors.
Please excuse me for bad stamping in this image. I have lost practice with stamping so these bald spots are because of my mistake, otherwise Harlow and Savita stamp perfectly as well.
Above pics do not show stamping with Dovima and Loredana but they stamp good too.
I did accent nails with El corazon holo spark top coat so that I could test how these color look with top coat. While the shiny top coat look along side matte looked pretty in person, only after clicking pictures I realized that top coat difference is not much visible here. So I will share another top coat look comparison in next post.
